Jean Bradley from Sharing Memories works on a decorated pot
We worked with participants from Enfield Down, a secure mental health unit, to create a collection of pots, tiles and lights from red clay and white porcelein - all with a natural theme

Ceramic artist Zoe Carratt (on the left in the above image) worked with Sharing Memories and Enfield Down, teaching us simple clay techniques and bringing in a range of natural materials - leaves, shells, pieces of wood & flowers - which we used to create patterns on our work.  We started with simple tiles and moved on to slab vases, and small light bases.  The results were really beautiful and allowed time for all the participants to get to know each other and learn together.  Our work went on display at the Packhorse Gallery in Huddersfield where it was greatly admired with several members of the public asking if it was for sale.  We find that by working together and achieving such hiqh quality results, raises aspirations within our participants, giving them a sense of esteem and self confidence.

Our thanks to Creative Minds (South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) for funding this project.
