Margery from Sharing Memories makes a felt panel
This textile-based project taught participants a range of skills, from felt-making and collage, to drawing and painting.  We worked with participants from Enfield Down, a secure mental health unit; Artists in Mind which supports artists recovering from mental health issues; and pupils from Lydgate Special School.

Artist John Holt works on initial ideas with Sharing Memories
The aim of the project was to create up to 100 individual textile 'windows' which could be displayed either individually or in groups.  We worked initially with artist John Holt and brought in objects which were meaningful to us, exploring their resonance through paintings and drawings.  Each participant then went on to create at least one window on a subject matter which was completely personal to them.  Some of the windows reflected landscapes, others were purely decorative or fantastical and some were about hobbies and interests.  The variety of work was inspirational and, as the project progressed, we had more and more participants getting involved.  We held an exhibition of all the finished windows at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield in early 2015.  The work then moved to the Clinicial Commissioning HQ in Huddersfield in March.

This project was funded by Arts Council England, Kirklees Council's Arts in the Neighbourhood Programme and Creative Minds
