ImageThe Riverlution project worked with Sharing Memories, children from Lydgate Special School and pupils from Holmfirth Junior and Infant School - exploring the River Holme and producing artwork and original writing in response to the idea of flow.

ImageThe project included a  trip to the river to explore its banks and record the wildlife, sights and sounds. Lydgate children used art to depict the flow of the river with the help of local artist John Holt, and created a river mural made up of lengths of hand-painted fabric. The Year 6 Holmfirth J&I pupils worked with writer Mary Cooper to compose poetry and prose inspired by the Holmfirth flood of 1852.  All participants received a specially printed booklet of their work and we held an exhibition at Up Country in Holmfirth. Some of the poems were also displayed on the railings between the park and the river in Holmfirth.
