Now that we are based at Hope Bank Works in Honley we thought it would be a great idea to find out more about the history of Hope Bank Pleasure Grounds - a major attraction in the area from the late 1800s until 1955.

With the help of a Heritage Lottery Grant we spent time researching the history of the Pleasure Grounds, talking to other older people and capturing their memories of visiting Hope Bank as a child.  We visited the National Fairground Archive in Sheffield to inform our project and created our own backdrop of helter skelters and carousels for a special Open Day which attracted around 300 people.

The Hope Bank project has gone on on to develop a 'life of its own' with members of the public ringing us from as far afield as Inverness and Skegness to tell us their memories of Hope Bank. We are now applying for funding to write a series of new songs, and theatrical sketches, about Hope Bank which we hope to perform in 2018.

In the meantime take a look at the film of our Open Day here: or contact Sally Brown on 07950 870864 to receive a copy of the film.
