Sing Out, Reach Out was devised by Kim Strickson of Kirklees Council as a way of bringing schools together with their local community groups, by sharing and singing their favourite songs,  Sharing Memories worked with a choir from Holmfirth J&I School - the children taught us a song called 'Proud' by Heather Small - and in return our group members taught the children to sing 'What a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong.

We also learned a newly commissioned song, called 'Sing Out, Reach Out', written by Boff Whalley a former member of Chumbawamba.  So how exciting is that!  We performed our songs at Holmfirth Folk Festival, in the local market hall and again in the Piazza in Huddersfield on Monday 3rd July alongside other schools and groups.

As part of the project we made flags for our performance and shared stories of the things we were most proud of.

This project received funding from Kirklees Council Area Committee.
