Pennine Landscapes
Friday, 14 May 2010

Our Pennine Landscapes project used photography, painting and creative writing to create an exhibition, book and cards about the landscpae of the Holme Valley.

For this extensive project members of Sharing Memories worked alongside photographer Paula Solloway, visual artist David Quirke and creative writer Mary Cooper.  Initially we took our members out into the landscape and took their photographs in some of their favourite locations.  We were joined on some of our outings by students from Holmfirth High School.

We then took our photographs back to our base in Holmfirth and created a series of paintings, pastel and charcoal drawings based on our landscapes.  From here we worked with Year 5 pupils at Brockholes CofE Junior and Infant School to write about journeys and some of our favourite places.

The project culminated in an exhibition at Holmfirth Parish Church as part of Artweek 2010 which was attended by over 500 people.  We then went on to create a book entitled 'Pennine Landscapes' (on sale price £9.99) and a series of notelets and postcards based on our members paintings.
